What amazes me are the people who go to rallies to support their candidate. They stand there with glassy eyed adulation. They have to carry tissues to wipe the drool off their chins.

I have heard educated people extoll their candidate. They say he/she is going to do this and going to do that and bring the country together and solve all our problems. Are they CRAZY???

These people they worship are POLITICIANS! The only thing they worry about is how can I screw my enemies and how do I enhance my power and wealth.

This is nothing new. It has been going on since 1776. After reading Washington's letters and those of his contemporaries, I believe he was honest and actually worked for the welfare of this fragile, new country.

Most but not all who followed him into the office of the president were opportunistic scum and to this day that hasn't changed. All you have to do is look at Bill Clinton, the messiah and now the senile, idiot who is in office today.

The people in the know that support and prop up Biden for another term and know he is an incompetent, demented thief are traitors to this country. Manson targeted impressionable, insecure young women. He convinced them to abandon their families and join his “family”. During chemical drug binges, he love bombed them into obedience. His most devoted followers physically mutilated themselves by carving an X into their foreheads. It all ended in violent bloodshed. Sound familiar?"

It does sound just like what happens to impressionable, insecure girls in high school who decide they are boys and that their families are no good/"abusive" but that the love bombing teachers/administrators trained in GI (and probably the neighbors who virtue signal and Gay-Straight Alliance student leaders) understand their "true authentic selves". Then, it's synthetic testosterone ($$ cha-ching for Pharma and Planned Parenthood) and maybe off to the plastic surgeon for breast removal. We need to try and hang or lock away a few of these surgeons who butcher minors and probably Richard/Rachael Levine - first female Admiral who promotes the cult religion from on high.

Whatever you think of their ethics and morals; Trumps opponents across mainstream and social media played a first team varsity game. Where it mattered I don't think our side left the dressing room.

Even so it wouldn't have been even a hill of beans but for the Kung Flu and the President pulling the wool over his own eyes putting the one man in the US with the greatest responsibility for the Kung Flu happening in charge of the US response: Fauci.

President Trump turned the gun on himself and snatched defeat from victory. I only hope those close to him have already, or can before the end of the year, get through to him that it matters not a jot that he thinks he is the Hero in this movie; but that the only person responsible for him losing is himself in the eyes of the squeezed middle, the audience.

All this would be the case even if he weren't demonstrably senile. Lowest inflation rate of any nation, lmao. I don't live in any other nation, so I wouldn't know. Every time I go to the store I find myself despising half the country for voting for this trainwreck. I'm shocked his approval rating is actually as high as 41%.

Respect of the world??? Have you seen leaders of other countries in his presence, how they cringe and appear nervous? The episode with King Charles last month was embarrassing. He doesn't know who or where he is most of the time and has to be physically pointed in the right direction and led around. We can't forget about Newson (the king of virtual signaling):

- Maskless at the Superbowl indoor when all the kids were still required to wear masks

- French Laundry

- Announced how CA would be the first state to make Covid-19 vaccines mandatory for kids to attend public school.

- Had a covid shot (moderna) and suddenly disappeared right after that.

- His kids are attending private school (nice to have school of choice when you have money). Private schools in CA were first to resume in-person class, while the public schools were dominated ( or better, hostage) by Teacher's union, needless to say the learning loss was rampant for kids w/o resources to pay for private school or tutoring.

-Set up a commission for reparations, the group came with an exorbitant amount to be paid off, he quietly (and quickly) dismissed the whole thing.

- Talk about gas companies charging high prices in CA but doesn't mention how much we pay is actually tax. Granted Gas companies are not innocent.. but the state is not either.

- California Covid-19 benefits payouts were probably one of the highest state fraud ever ($9.8 B)

- Homeless everywhere.

- Nominated Linda Darling-Hammond for the Cal State Board of Education - recently they approved a flawed Math framework that will emphasize equity instead of rigor , the framework was used in SF and failed miserably.

-Persecuting parents in Temecula and Chino Chills ( imposing a fine to the school district because of Harvey Milk and because they want to notify parents about transitioning and pronouns)

Good luck! He is the road to hell for the US.

There's not much about my college degree that really makes me more knowledgeable or have better opinions than someone working construction all day. What a college degree gives you is expertise in a single field, and the ability to express yourself a bit better in rhetoric. This is more true than ever today with the de-emphasis on test scores for college admissions, and the over-emphasis of DEI as well as connections/recommendation letters. And it used to be just having a family wealthy enough to send you there.

The four largest cities in CA: Los Angeles, San Diego, San Jose and San Francisco all have lower crime rates than Miami even WITH all the stupid B.S. going on with lax prosecution of crime, eliminating bail, etc. SF also had the lowest COVID death rate of any large city (though if you add in fentanyl deaths the numbers don't look so great).

For now, De Santis can coast by claiming how much better Florida is than California but once he's the candidate some of that will start to be peeled away. Florida has the third largest homeless population in the U.S. and is the third largest state in population, so comparatively it's equal to California which is first in population and homelessness. In other words, neither state is really all that spectacular right now.

What could possibly shake you out of denial? Do you really expect Trump to be perfectly explicit and say "fabricate or intentionally miscount more votes for me so I win Georgia?" Mistrust of mainstream media - we all have it. It's time to start questioning the trust invested in Trump as well.

Evidence. Evidence that is presented and leveled in an even-handed way that proves the intent of those words and uncovers any sort of mode of action for cheating... Present that and I would throw Trump completely under the bus and put it in reverse. There simply isn't.

Its the same with many of the Mar-A-Lago charges that rely on prosecutorial mind-reading to establish intent. These laughable proclamations would never even see the inside of a courtroom if it wasn't about Trump.

What there is evidence for, and what is completely glossed over, is the litany of lies that we have been fed by the liberals and the media over the past 5-7 years. What there is also evidence for is that our justice system will criminalize the few words of some, while mounds of actual, intent-proving hard evidence piles up against other pockets of the most terrible people on earth, yet the lack of any scrutiny, let alone charges or media coverage, is completely deafening. (ie: So now that we know that there was Ukraine/Biden corruption, does Trump's impeachment for trying to uncover said corruption get expunged?)

At some point, you have to stop believing that the "experts" and propogandists that have proliferated the lies... not start with continuing to demonize the people/topics that have been most lied about. (ie: Everything COVID)

All of this is certainly a symptom of a deeper flaw. I agree with you that we should not make excuses for anyone... but when the 'crimes' you have been told to believe are either completely fabricated, can only be proven to be crimes if you are a mind-reader, or are happening across the board, yet only one side gets called out and charged... then it is those who control that corrupt system who need to be held accountable.

That is where we are. And that is why Trump's popularity grows with each inditement. People can see that these charges are BS, and they want someone to be held to task for being allowed to make such a mockery of our system because of some narcissistic vendettas that have completely abandoned the law and are patently obvious personal vendettas.

What I am asking is if you are approaching this on the basis of principle. When people are dealing with principles, they define their terms, and condemn all violations of those principles.

Joe Biden has been proven by bank statements to have taken at least $20 million in bribes from Ukraine, Romania, Kazakhstan, and China. He also happens to be our current President, and also happens to be pursuing dangerous and stupid policies in Ukraine, and policies with respect to China that do not seem to be intended to support American interests, which is the sort of thing you expect from someone who has sold out to rival nations.

There is no equivalent with respect to Trump. He did an outstanding job, got closer to peace in the Korean peninsula than any leader since the armistice, and for that matter was properly nominated for two Nobel Peace Prizes for getting 3-4 nations which had been at war with Israel in principle to recognize it.

All you are doing is repeating meaningless propaganda. It works for people who are suffering from similar induced hallucinations, but not for anyone who has the slightest shred of critical intellect, or a sufficient fact base to recognize patent and egregious lies.

My issue with Trump isn't actually Trump himself; it's how the left reacts to him. If he becomes the nominee (which he presumtively will be, barring an act of God), he will have been indicted multiple times, possibly be facing jail, and be the ultimate punching bag. His presence on the ballot alone can motive tons of people with no other interest in politics to go vote against him. And if the election is at all close, you can expect rioting over the election results followed by some AI-driven big-tech censorship that will make J6 look like a joke.

Trump was a fairly good president. He was competent at negotiations/treaties, he kept us out of war, he helped put some smart folks on the Supreme Court, and he kept the economy strong until COVID hit. OTOH, he also pushed the jab, eroded gun rights, and did nothing to stem the tide of wokeness/DEI that invaded the private sector or education system from 2016 onwards. He did nothing to protect free speech rights online (which ironically got him deplatformed). He did nothing to address the burgeoning mental health crisis among youth, or attempt to restore the family.

2016-2020 was a HUGE slide downwards in American culture, and while he's not to blame for it, he also did nothing to try to prevent it.

Interesting.

Like so many people on this thread today, I don't think you read this thing through, HL. With all due respect.

The writer is not asking YOU to consider voting for a Democrat, he knows that by far most of the readership of FP skew conservative - he's merely pointing out the quandary Democrats have in being forced to vote for Biden - since their party is basically going to hand him the nomination on a silver platter and the majority of them think Biden is too old and unfit for office. So who else can they choose from within their party?

He's not asking any Republican to choose from a list of Dem politicians they plainly abhor, right?

Guess it’s more of a broad-based disappointment in society as a whole, our failure to curb the power of the corrupt, to be appalled when we witness that corruption, and our species’ susceptibility to propaganda. All when a little intuition and curiosity is all it takes to see reality.

I don't think, other than stopping the manufacturing of Heroine, and that's like stopping the manufacturing of guns, there's any way to eliminate drug addiction, and even if there wasn't heroine, an addictive personality would find something else. Riding his family name? You mean riding all that political capital which came with his name, which opened the doors of the powerful and influential to him, that he burned through in his crusade for safer vaccines to the point that those formerly open doors on Capitol Hill became closed to him, as the Pharma-paid politicians behind them were afraid to be seen with him or associated with his concerns about Pharma corruption? Is that the "two-bit con" you're talking about?

Or were you talking about his "con" with the Riverkeeper organization...?

Trump is exhausting to me. RFK Jr and perhaps Ramaswamy to a lesser extent still seem very willing to break things in DC and really make some serious changes. I voted for Trump twice, but given ANYONE else with stones even close to the size of Trumps, probably has my vote.

If I may suggest, the leftist frenzy to "get Trump" which has been at fever pitch among legacy media, celebrities, Democrats and leftist bureaucrats these past 7 years is perhaps what's exhausting you? This is certainly their plan.

No doubt that the past 7 years has taken its toll, but both Kennedy and Ramaswamy are both well informed and educated on the subjects that they speak on. Trump just seems like he gets the foot notes from whoever he happens to be close to at the time and then rolls with it. It shows in a glaring way that he's not doing deep dives on a lot of things he talks about. I just think we have better choices. Just my 2 cents.

Vivek... So I was definitely taken in by his rethoric at first. He says some stuff that resounds with me, especially about the crisis of purposelessness we all face. He understands the **** millennials are going through in a way that the other candidates simply can't relate to. However, his plans for tackling it are either unclear or untenable. He's talking about legalizing all hard drugs, making COVID test databases, etc.

It's DeSantis for me. DeSantis has a track record of fixing the education system in Florida, tackling big companies (basically, the new trust-busting, etc). DeSantis is the actual anti-establishment candidate we all hoped Trump would be and has proof of it. That being said, I'd vote for Ramaswamy in a heartbeat over Biden.

“President Biden remains a healthy, vigorous, 80-year-old male, who is fit to successfully execute the duties of the presidency,” the White House physician, Kevin O’Connor, said in February.

The problem isn't Biden. Oh sure Biden's a problem because he's a corrupt, senile imbecile, doing face plants and babbling incoherently on a regular basis when he isn't having his dwarfish Beria sicc'ing the Stasi on some political opponent or ordinary American fed up with this crap. No, the problem is Democrats and their entire corrupt, leftist party of wolves in sheep clothing There isn't one of them who is honest, genuine or sane. Vivek is too young and too inexperienced. If China goes savage on Taiwan, the South China Sea, etc. I want someone with know-how in there. JFK had to learn on the job and it cost him his and almost the free world of its freedom.

Make him a VP pick, or grant him a cabinet position. He has a bright future ahead of him.

Expand full comment

So Ramaswamy lacks experience. Who doesn’t? No one has ever gotten the job because they did it before (except the incumbent). Listen to him speak or read his books. He has clarity of thought and an appealing vision of where he wants to take the country and how to get there. And he communicates!

Expand full comment

I don't dislike Vivek. If he's the nominee he gets my vote. I agree that there is no true experience for the job, but given the danger China brings, the ongoing Ukraine war, I'd rather have DeSantis with his military resume, 9 years his senior, and Fla. governing experience.

Give VR a VP or cabinet slot. Given the choices, he's not ready yet

Expand full comment

He has experience in the corporate world, starting 2 successful companies from scratch. He is smart and credentialed. He speaks with clarity, like DeSantis who I also like but feel is hamstrung by his obsession with woke, as if every problem we face starts with that. VR abhors woke-ism too, but has a more balanced view of what else we need to actually do to unite us. He wants us to be citizens with a shared love of country, forged in service and maintained with a view of our neighbors as equals, not preferred over others by race, gender or any other force beyond our control. Legal immigrants appreciate and love America for what it is and promises, not for what they can get out of us. That is my admittedly still forming view of Ramaswamy.

His experience in the corporate world taught him to turn to experts, gather opinions, and form a plan. A strong cabinet and advisors are critical for any president and Ramaswamy could attract, retain, and effectively use the best advice.

If Vivek said let China have Taiwan, that is a MAJOR blunder.....I doubt he said that.

If China controls Taiwan, they control about 65% of the world's semiconductor market share. TSMC alone is 54% of the world's market share.

We're already in a technology war with China that we're losing.

How do you think this would go down?

Expand full comment

No, what he actually said was, AFTER awe ramp up our OWN semiconductor production, he wouldn’t have a strategic reason to defend it but as long as Taiwan is the producer of the majority of semiconductors - we have to protect it.. He just said the quiet part out loud. The part where the US should actually have some strategic reason (instead of being the world’s policeman for free) for why it spends our taxpayers money to defend other countries...

I have heard this argument before. That is why he would appoint a Secretary of Defense with some experience. There is also the entire Pentagon he can go to for advice. Walter Kirn just made a comment about this in his Friday podcast with Matt Taibbi, how the signs of how messed up this country is, are all around and evident to anyone looking. He told a story about how he tried to eat at a local mom and pop diner in Montana that was unfortunately shuttered after going bankrupt. He went back out to his truck and on one side of him was a family living in their car, eating out of cans, and on the other side a woman with a face mask and shield and her phone wrapped in tape. He said in the span of 10 minutes it was obvious things are far, far worse than they were 3 years ago. No. The headline has this backwards. When a voter thinks about the way Biden’s and Garland’s Justice Department and FBI are persecuting Donald Trump, thereby interfering in the next election; when a voter sees the consequences of having an open border and feels the consequences of Biden’s disastrous, free-spending economic policies; when a voter learns the full, damning details of Biden’s criminally taking bribes from foreign companies and governments; when a voter realizes the dangers of allowing Iran to build a nuclear bomb, of allowing China’s unimpeded hegemony in Asian waters, of backing Palestinian terrorists instead of Israel, of depleting our military in multiple ways; when a voter comes to his/her senses vis-a-vis the inanity of “woke” policies and the foolish elimination of fossil fuel sources; when a voter thinks about the obvious mental deterioration of Joe Biden, and reflects on the fact that he counts our withdrawal from Afghanistan as a success; and when the voter scans the other likely Democrat candidates, such as Newsom and Harris, and realizes that their governing would be every bit as bad; then the real question comes to the fore: “Are you going to make me vote for Donald Trump?” - who, whatever his personal flaws, advocates policies that actually benefit this great country.
