Rupa Subramanya, Matt Taibbi, & Michael Shellenberger all did a great job testifying before the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government. Watching them school some of these politicians on basic rights and at times laugh at them was pure gold. Subramanya did a really good job of describing how Justin Trudeau has basically turned the Liberal Party of Canada into a present day 1970's Cambodian People's Republic of Kampuchea, minus the rice paddies of course.

The Democrats were simply awful with their questioning and partisanship. I don't know how anyone on the left could have listened to them and not been embarrassed and horrified with how they treated these 3 witnesses and how they've justified the governments overreach of US citizens privacy and first amendment rights. Shellenberger and Taibbi explained clearly how numerous federal agencies have coerced big tech, in some cases directly or through NGO's, to censor and deamplify voices of those who they don't agree or find inconvenient to a narrative.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Dan Goldman are two of the worst human beings on the planet. If you've not watched any of the questioning by either of these depraved authoritarian lunatics you should. The exchange between Goldman, Taibbi and Shellenberger on the percentage of censorship that is acceptable is mind jarring and very telling about the direction of progressives.

Speaking of horrible human beings, Olivia Troye ranks right up there with Schultz. I'm certain she would have been a fine National Socialist German Workers' Party leader in 1938.

Dan Goldman, the heir to the Levi Strauss fortune with a $250 million net worth who graduated from Yale and Stanford, is the poster child of the Democrat "Resistance". Troye and Schultz are veteran deep state swamp creatures, paid to say what their masters tell them.

Democracy is when Democrats win by seeking to imprison the leading opposition candidate. Dictatorship is when conservatives advocate for free speech over censorship.

Freedom is slavery, war is peace. 🤡🌎

I hear that the 'leading opposition candidate,' if he wins late next year, will want to jail the Bidens, father and son, go after every minion who ever worked for him because they've said bad things about him, will chase Milley to arrest him for treason - and basically do everything everyone here thinks Biden is doing now. Funny how things turn around, right?

If Trump does it, will it be good? Even though through the eyes of so many here, when Biden does it - it's bad?

Expand full comment

Sorry - what I was trying to say was that - love Trump or hate him any honest person will admit that he has been persecuted unfairly and egregiously. Someone should be held accountable for the monstrousness that has been committed not just at him but significantly against tons of other Americans. If they can do what they are doing without consequence then we don’t have a country anymore. And while I worry about whether or not Trump will act in a presidential way - I have to remember that the things you are talking about is saying he is already guilty of things he has never done. He did not persecute his political opponents when he was in office. How can you be so sure he will do it in the future

Expand full comment

I define "honesty" as adhering to verifiable facts and phenomenon when communicating with other humans. Merriam-Webster's defines "honest" as: 1 free from fraud or deception, 2 reputable, respectable, 3 worthy of praise, and 4 marked by integrity.

According to neither their nor my definition could Trump has be seen as "honest". He has not been persecuted or prosecuted unfairly or egregiously. On the other hand, he has stated openly and often exactly that he will persecute anyone he sees as defying him or causing him problems should we all be unfortunate enough to suffer his ascension once again.

Expand full comment

I think it strange that you present the definition of honest, assert that Trump doesn't meet that definition, and then conclude that his prosecution is fair. Because, like so much else, that argument you've made could quite easily be applied to Biden. For that matter, Trump was much more open and revealing, at least - he almost immediately released the transcript of his call with Zelensly, for example, as soon as he came under fire for it - during his impeachment proceedings, than Biden has ever been about anything.

I think that if Trump does it without reason and without just cause (as I believe Biden in doing it right now) then I agree that will be wrong. The question is did the Biden family sell out the country and take money under the table from other countries. Did he destroy free speech to affect an election? Did he persecute just regular Americans in an unfair way just based upon political party? I think the evidence is pretty strong and those of us who have read Bari and Matt and Michael and Glen have seen quite a bit of evidence. But for sure - if he goes after people in the same way that would be wrong. H th e only thing I can say is that he was president for 4 years already and was treated horribly. He did none of the things during his time in office when he had the chance. Just my feeling

Expand full comment

T, treated horribly? Really? Jefferson wrote horrible lies about John Adams. The Clintons did have a right wing conspiracy, writing about them Killing 11+ people. What is a lobbyist? A huge problem is rewards to politicians after leaving office. Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and increasingly others, are giving rewards after. 20 years ago, this was as high as $100 million! The low end was a Jaguar.

Payment in any form, after leaving office, particularly by foreign powers is something you should be fighting.

The other thing to fight is term limits and contribution caps except for foreign donors. Why? Perverse effect. Those laws have made politicians into beggars, lowering the price of corruption, making it easier. Before, a politician had a career, and all sides had to come to them and beg. The politicians could play them off against each other. Now? They are owned.

The bigger point is HOW congressional representatives are raising $ to fund their continual campaigns and employment. It used to be much more grass roots phone calls to individual donors. Now days, it's MUCH EASIER just to have Ratheon or Pzifer hold a DC fundraising cocktail or dinner party full of lobbyists for those companies/industries. Raise as much $ in 2 hours as you can in 200 hours of phone calls. Why do you suppose so much PAC $$ is being thrown at Nikki Haley right now, and yet she's behind in polls to Trump by 50 points? There is a massive disconnect between voters wants/needs and their representatives want/need to get re-elected. You wanna know why congressional reps clamor to wear Ukraine flags on their lapels? That is a virtue signal to their lobbyist/Military Industrial overlords that they are a team player, and worthy of another fund-raising event. An event that makes the rep slaves to the Corporate Industry rather the the good folks at home. This is true of both R and D. R's give a good talk of being 'conservative', but when it comes down to voting those words into bill/law, they go absent, afraid that the lobbyist $ pipeline might be cut off if they stray off-path.

I cannot add much to what Jim Jordan said: "Well said. Rupa." I believe we are at a watershed moment in US history and what we do as a country will determine the course, and perhaps the survival, of the American experiment for generations to come. If we allow the few loud, shrill, relentless authoritarian, arrogant, and elitist voices to go unanswered, or made to defend their position in the public square, then we are doomed to be ruled by a small cabal made up of those who feel their class and/or education entitles them to make decisions for the rest of us. Our survival as a nation demands that we stand up to claims of systemic racism, globalism, climate change catastrophism, and gender fluidity.

Decades back American toxic feminism attacked and successfully compromised what they propagandized as the "good old boys men's club" which, in actuality, were often community based service organizations committed to the conscious stewardship of community and nation. In point of fact, as Americans are experiencing today, the sycophants cared nothing for the actual hard work involved or prosperous outcomes. Only the power and narcissism of self-interested control. Today they are recognized as the commissariat styled career destroying DEI. And as the smug faced little fascists appearing as witnesses at Congressional DNC/CIC surveillance state party line hearings. Or as the blue haired childless presidents of school boards cutting the mic's of concerned parents.

The tactic most often reported here: Claims of vague emotional distress and often anonymous complaint followed by a whisper campaign and shunning. Then public shaming, and again, often threatening anonymous calls to the department head or business owner followed by open demands for the victims firing. Then the nut case hysteria of the social media pile on, the pretense of a kangaroo court inquiry and, the ultimate creation of a thick as soup emotional/financial atmosphere so poisonous and anti-human everyone involved gladly accedes. This is and has always been the star-chamber politics of totalitarian monarchism. It is the brutal narcissistic pathology that characterizes "the divine right of kings."

Our small victory of the moment and the beginning of the way forward is our belief in a truth/fact based American human reality.

The toxicity of university feminism is responsible for most of the rallies, threats and and violence targeting, silencing and cancelling speakers. Anti male misandrist feminist rhetoric has greatly reduced participation in, and the positivity of the roles groups like the Kiwanis, Rotary and the Masons once played in communities life.

You don't elect a President as much as a team to run the government and enforce the laws. The people who run ours now are people who love the stuff that Rupa is speaking against.

But with Trump, the focus is not on them but him. And he would have it no other way. He is such an awful communicator and only persuasive if you are a fanboy or girl of him. The campaign in 2024 should be against a Man who is declining quickly, a cackling fool who, God forbid, ever gets power, but also the men and women who are ideological and incompetent. And DeSantis has a proven record of accomplishment. And he has proven he has the courage to take on woke madness, and doesn't care what pundits or late-night comedians say about him. Alone among all the candidates, he has served in the military. I hope he will be the Republican nominee.

Sadly, he is also "boring" by polictical standards. Americans are not great at voting for people who will actually do a good job unless they also somehow energize people. We like celebrities and drama and excitement. And most of the work of government is boring.

People think Trump cares at all about our liberties? Does anyone listen to what he says? He'll try to ban whatever pisses him off at the moment. Trump (and the hard right) is not the fix for the hard left. I support non-extremists.

When you call someone an "extremist" be careful that you're not simply parroting the cartoon of them by the leftist media. How many here think MTG actually fulminated against "Jewish Space Lasers?"

I am calling the far right and the far left extremist. Thus the 'far' part. My words. Not MSM.

I don't think Trump is effective. He seems uniquely talented at rendering the other side insane AND giving the other side more power. The result is the current mess we're in.

As I recall, Trump got 74 million legitimate votes in 2020. The second most votes ever.

To be fair, a good deal of votes on both sides in the last few elections have been AGAINST the other side, not simply FOR the candidate.

Vivek a Ramaswamy has the MAGA ideals without the Trump baggage. He is smart, erudite, and is currently doing the door to door work in Iowa and New Hampshire. If he pulls off an impressive showing, he has a real chance. The uniparty and MSM have been ignoring him outright precisely because he is most threatening to their totalitarian anti free speech policies. I urge people to follow him on YouTube and listen to what he says and how he says things.

He has no chance. And is kind of annoying, too. Got that oily used car salesman vibe going on

Yeah, I have liked a few things he has said, but like you, I get a slimy vibe...like we are getting a show as opposed to truth.

Listen to his interview with Jordan Peterson. After that, you can decide. I also listened to DeSantis interview with Jordan Peterson. DeSantis would be an awesome choice, but I don't know how either of these guys can break through the Trump barrier.

I love Ramaswamy for all the reasons you state but the flaw in your argument is that the deep state and their corporate media flunkies will employ the same playbook against him that they did against Trump. Contrary to your point, the reason the uniparty and corporate media haven't already is because they do not view him as a threat. He’s still relatively unknown but should that change, it’s so much easier to smear an unknown. Just ask RFK. It doesn’t matter if they can’t find any dirt, they’ll just make it up, like the whole Russia, Russia, Russia collusion lie. They’ll smear away because they know that by the time the truth finally comes out, it’s too late because they’ll have won.

The difference is that Trump has withstood all of that already. Their lies and corruption are being exposed daily. What else can they smear him with? People who are inclined to vote know Trump is being persecuted by a corrupt Biden/Obama regime JustUs department and the obedient Beria acolytes charging him with “crimes”. No one, not even the most deranged Trump haters believe there is any substance to them. What they do believe is that Trump is an existential threat to the ultimate authoritarian power they seek and they’re willing to do anything to stop him.

Expand full comment

I think you're correct. Our basing our belief in a truth/fact based American reality against the realpolitik of their "willingness to do anything" is exactly the fight we're in. On our side, history says that the commitment to the fight immediately removes fear of the threat and clears the field of vision. Much of the mal force at work in American political reality depends on psyop, propaganda, obfuscation and fear and the amount of effort they have to put into maintaining the front makes me believe they're not as powerful as they would like us to believe.

The "uniparty and MSM" only ignore those that they perceive as being no-hopers. This is bankable.

I disagree. They ignore those they see as a threat. Sometimes they give space to the least bankable over the most threatening to help protect their incumbent choice.

Let me also make mention the candidate V.Ramaswamy (no idea how good a President he would be) is trying to have the same conversation we are: 1776, the Constitution, the citizen, and the ongoing American revolution. (And Trump often expresses the same idea's.)

I'll spare you the rant.

That may be true. I am struggling with that as well, as I don't like Trump. But I am also not sure who the better alternative will be. And it certainly isn't on the Democrats side of things.

If it comes down to Trump vs. Biden, I vote for Trump for the third time. Vivek comes off as too much of a smarty pants with unworkable solutions. Haley is getting sucked into the warmonger vortex and Desantis is still too young and lacks personaity. But I am voting for him as I think he can blow out Biden.

The fact that he lacks personality is what makes him a good executive. He has also withstood the media trying to bring him down.

Fun fact: Petards are not swords or spears, they are small explosives, like grenades. The word “petard” was also used in French as a euphemism for “fart,” so being “hoist on ones own petard” actually means to be blown into the air by the power of ones own fart!

I'm no longer a Trump fan but today's poll from Morning Consult gives him a 63 point lead over DeSantis, with Haley in third followed by Ramaswammy. It doesn't look like anyone is going to seriously challenge DJT even though he will be tied up in court for the next year or even in jail. While it's not my scenario of choice, four years of Trump would be vastly better than another four years of Biden - or, God forbid, Kamala Harris or Gavin Newsom. So before writing off Trump as a bloviating blowhard, which I understand, look at the likely alternatives. (RFK, Jr. is right on a few things but dead wrong on many more. He's a liberal with a few sensible views.)

When you only have 5 minutes and a 10 minute message, this is a pretty good compromise. Remember:

He oft went amiss

By putting as many words, thoughts, and syllables into the last line as he possibly could.

Amen. I have not frequented a church in many years but I do feel in my soul the anger and sorrow that is currently playing out against my brothers and sisters around the US and around the globe. This is very much a battle of the 'soul' just window dressed as rights, liberties, etc. The wolf is definitely leading many astray and they are too blind to realize it.
